About Penblock

News, cross-checked, and what it could mean for markets

Penblock follows the stories that move markets and checks them across mainstream outlets, independent reporters, think tanks and official filings. When several sources describe the same event it is grouped into one page, so you can see who reported it, where accounts agree, and where only one side of the media is covering it.

What we do and don't do

  • We link to the original reporting. Every event shows the outlets behind it, each with a link to the article.
  • We write our own headlines and summaries from the reported facts rather than copying a publisher's wording.
  • We don't do original reporting and we are not a news agency; we organize and explain other people's reporting.
  • We don't give investment advice. Market commentary describes possible effects in general terms. See the disclaimer.

How it is produced

Stories are collected automatically from the sources we track, grouped into events, scored for how widely they are corroborated, and summarized with the help of AI. Because that process is automated it can make mistakes, which is why every item links back to its sources. The How it works page explains the confidence ratings and source types in plain terms.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, tell us which page and what is incorrect and we will review it promptly and fix or remove it. A publisher who wants a source credited differently or removed from a page can use the same address.

How the site is funded

Penblock is free to read and supported by advertising. Advertisers do not influence what we cover or how we describe it. You can also get the free daily email digest. Details of what we collect and your choices are in the privacy policy.
