News sources Penblock tracks

Penblock does not write original reporting. It reads 22 sources across mainstream outlets, independent analysts, commentary, think tanks and official records, matches the reports that describe the same event, and shows who is covering what. Here is the full list, what we do with each type, and how many reports we have collected from each.

Every story on the site links to the original reporting. We never republish a publisher's headline or text. See our editorial standards and how it works.

How we choose and weigh sources

A source is added when it publishes on a regular feed or channel we can read automatically, and it is placed in one type based on what it is, not on what it says. We use the type to decide how much a report counts: agreement between a mainstream outlet and an independent source raises our confidence in a story, while a story only independent sources have reported is labeled "not in mainstream yet" and watched, never presented as confirmed. Being on this list is not an endorsement.

Is there a source you think belongs here, or one we have placed in the wrong type? Tell us at hello@penblock.com.
